Hey all,
Bo and I were talking about swarm trap designs, so I thought I would link a few interesting ones.
We should have a competition!! lol
http://beehivejournal.blogspot.com/2010/05/swarm-and-3-bait-hives.html there is a video of a round tube design here also.
http://feralhoneybees.homestead.com/Trap1.html this is a recycled cardboard box type, making it easier to remove the hive once caught...using standard Lang.deep frames.
http://feralhoneybees.homestead.com/Trap3.html This site shows using a regular Nuc design...probably better as you can just keep them as nucs!
But at the bottom is a nice wax carboard box design....I would tape a plastic bag over the top for rain.

Swarm trap size
I found an article put out by the USDA who did a study of swarm traps .
http://naldc.nal.usda.gov/download/13794/PDF
I think they see 30 Qt. size traps as working the best (page 113 - 115)
